Consortium Management

A consortium is an association of two or more companies with the objective of participating in a common REACH registration process and pooling their data for achieving a common registration dossier. Consortia are an effective solution to fulfil your REACH registration requirements for single substances or whole categories together with a number of co-registering companies in a Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF). For a dynamic and effective cooperation with competing companies in a market sector it is essential to have a reliable partner for managing your consortia as an independent trustee.

Duties and responsibilities of the Management

An independent Consortium Manager will assist you in the formation of the consortium, the set-up of a consortium agreement, the organisation of meetings and conference calls and will help you with all communication related to the dossier preparation and the joint registration process. We also offer support for the sometimes complicated data- and cost sharing.

As a technical consultant your consortium manager will take care of the best registration strategy: a thorough evaluation of existing data, the identification of data gaps and a precisely fitting proposal of testing strategies with due regard to scientific as well as economic aspects in order to close these gaps. Your consortium manager will assist you to collect data from downstream users, to perform exposure calculations - if necessary- and with the preparation of all necessary registration documents including literature survey, IUCLID files and the CSR. CLP notification and the preparation of extended safety data sheets (eSDS) complete the technical service.

As an independent trustee your independent consortium management gives you the possibility to handle sensitive data confidential, fully confident that competition law is respected.

After successful registration the consortium manager will assist you with all financial aspects of a consortium such as study compensation for shared data, calculation of individual shares regarding consortium running costs and calculation and preparation of ‘Letters of Access’ for co-registering SIEF members. Finally, he will take care of the cash flow in the escrow account and the refund payments of consortium members.
